As a delivery model, Aarohi is a neutral and reliable intermediary facility, not linked to any specific corporate hospital or affiliated group. It is committed to providing blood components free of charge to thalassemic children and children with leukemia.
Thalassemia is a blood disorder in which there is progressive anaemia due to abnormal haemoglobin formation. Between 3 and 15 percent of us carry the risk of giving birth to a child with thalassemia. In India, every year 10,000 new thalassemia children are added. The World Health Organization predicts that one million people will have thalassemia in the next ten years.
From collection to a child’s transfusion
Collection
Whole blood is collected at our centre or at a camp, from a screened voluntary donor.
Separation
Each unit is processed into components so one donation can treat several patients.
Screening
Every unit is tested to rule out communicable infections before it can be issued.
Cold storage
Components are stored at the specific temperature each one requires.
Issue
Tested again at the time of issue, then given free of cost to a thalassemia or leukemia child.
Until date
Aarohi has handled over 29,000 collections and approximately 49,500 issuances of blood and blood components to various beneficiaries. Of these, 17,500 were free of cost to thalassemia children and children with leukemia.

Make a donation
Funds cover component separation, screening tests and cold storage. Blood itself is never sold to a thalassemia or leukemia child.
You are a volunteer
Plan camps, raise awareness, enter data or raise funds. Volunteers make the mission sustainable.
