Who we are

A not-for-profit blood centre, run with the donors and volunteers of Hyderabad.

Aarohi Blood Center (ABC), formerly Aarohi Blood Bank, is an initiative of Aarohi, a not-for-profit grassroots organisation working since 2000. ABC operates on a unique not-for-profit model, providing state-of-the-art facilities for blood donation, component preparation and the issuance of blood and blood products.

Our mission is to make safe blood available at an affordable price to those who can afford it, and to issue it free and safe to those who cannot, especially children diagnosed with thalassemia and children with leukemia admitted at government hospitals.

Bringing Dignity to Life

Our vision: to bring dignity to the lives of people by making quality blood and blood products available when needed.

A Centre of Excellence in Blood Banking, committed to safe and high quality blood for thalassemia and leukemia children, free of cost, thereby enabling them an opportunity for a normal and holistic life, while canvassing blood donation as only voluntary and, at all times, guided by principles of compassion, care and uncompromising adherence to integrity.

mission

Being one of the preeminent and specialized blood centres

Aarohi Blood Center operates under a four-part mission:

We aim to bring out the hero in everyone through blood donation.

Our vision is to bridge the gap between donors and patients, raising awareness, encouraging voluntary donation through our camps, and providing blood to those who cannot afford it, free of cost.

Over these years we have supported thalassemia children with more than 7,500 units of packed cells, and given more than 9,500 units to cancer patients free of remuneration.

Thalassemia Diagnosed

Beta-thalassaemia is a genetic blood disorder. A person who carries the beta-thalassaemia gene can appear perfectly healthy, but where both partners carry it, there is a 1 in 4 chance their child could develop beta-thalassaemia major.

Be a Blood Donor

To donate blood the donor must be healthy, feeling well, active, and able to carry out normal activities without any problem.

The Delivery Model

A neutral, reliable intermediary, not linked to any corporate hospital, committed to providing blood components free of charge to thalassemic children and children with leukemia.

How can you contribute?

Four ways in. Each one directly reaches a child who needs blood every few weeks, for life.

01

Register with us

Complete a short health questionnaire so we know you are in good health and your donation is safe for you and the recipient.

02

Donate blood

Give blood at our centre in Khairtabad or at one of our camps with corporates, colleges and community centres.

03

Become a volunteer

Help plan camps, raise awareness, enter data or raise funds. Volunteers make the mission sustainable.

04

Donate money

Funds cover component separation, screening tests and cold storage, never the blood itself.

Are you ready to volunteer?

Donating blood is half the work done. The second half involves processing the blood into components, running screening tests, storing it, and testing it again at the time of issue. All this requires minimum charges.

There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.
